About Alformal

Alformal is an independent online store for formal wear: tuxedos, suits, dress shirts, ties, dress shoes, cufflinks, evening gowns and cocktail dresses. Everything we list is sold and shipped by Amazon. We choose the pieces, organise them by occasion and dress code, and link you straight to the listing.

How we choose

We start with Amazon’s formal-wear listings and keep only pieces that meet a few simple bars:

• An average rating of at least 4.2 out of 5 for menswear and accessories, or 4.0 for dresses, where sizing opinions vary more.
• At least 50 customer ratings, so the average means something.
• No near-duplicates: when a listing only differs by colour, we show it once.
• It has to actually be formal. Casual shirts, sneakers and everyday dresses don’t make the cut.

We don’t accept payment from brands to feature their products. The ratings you see on our pages are Amazon’s, and we say so wherever they appear.

Not Al’s Formal Wear

Alformal is not connected to Al’s Formal Wear, the Texas tuxedo rental chain that closed all of its stores in August 2023. If you were planning to rent from Al’s, buying an affordable tuxedo or suit is often close to the cost of a rental, and you keep it.
